The perpetual trophy of the Nordic Retrosynthesis Challenge was handed over to the winners during a ceremony at the 3rd National Meeting of the Swedish Chemical Society in Västerås. Congratulations from the organizers!
We are pleased to announce that the winners of the 1st Nordic Retrosynthesis Challenge are:
Tralling for Terpenes, Uppsala University, Sweden
Team members: Robin Petersson (C) and Erik Sundén
The jurys motivation: “The retrosynthetic analysis led to a very elegant proposal for a rather concise (low step count) convergent synthesis of the target molecule. The analysis included high-level computational chemistry to assess the viability of a key step (Diels-Alder cycloaddition). The proposal was also noteworthy for (i) the near absence of protective groups and (ii) good redox economy. The overall presentation was of a very high standard.“
The audience honorary prize goes to Masters in Cleavage, Lund University, Sweden.
All of us who have participated in organizing this event would like to extend our warmest congratulations to the winners and to all who have participated through hard work and creativity to make this a celebration of contemporary organic synthesis.
See you again in 2027!
Congrats to the three finalist teams of the #NordicRetrosynthesisChallenge:
Tralling for Terpenes from Uppsala University, Eduardoncita’s lab from AstraZeneca and Masters in Cleavage from Lund University! Don’t miss their final presentation on 28th of May 15:00 (CET) on Zoom. https://lnkd.in/dY7ystUb
on May 28th at kl. 15:00 the finalist of the 1st Nordic Retrosynthesis Challenge will present their synthesis to the chemistry community. The event will be broadcasted live over zoom.
Out of 12 high quality submissions, all from Sweden, the Jury of the Nordic Retrosynthesis Challenge has selected 6 teams, which are now allowed to proceed into the second round of the competition.
Congratulations to the following teams:
“At Least No Nitrogen” from Stockholm University
“Eduardoncita’s Lab” from AstraZeneca
“KK4” from AstraZeneca
“Masters in Cleavage” from Lund University
“Carboga” from KTH
“Tralling for Terpenes” from Uppsala University
The rules document has been clarified with respect to the release time for the target molecule. Please download the new document. Good luck to all teams with the preparations.
